Rudimental Warm-ups

Rudiments are regarded as the scales of drumming, the building blocks that can improve technique and facilitate fluency.

This worksheet presents several rudiment combinations (1-6), as well as some co-ordination exercises (7-9). Also, try placing a bass drum on each pulse. The use of a metronome is important, particularly with the use of different note groupings (eg. 1/16 notes to 1/16 triplets). Exercise seven is a personal favourite - try placing it around the kit as feel.
